thank you! Sheets especially, never get thrown away in this house, even in you can't use them for a finished project they're great for mock-ups to check fit etc. if they're thin enough I also use them to make drawer and clothes-hanger sachets (I hate the smell of mothballs) and I raid my parent's garden for smell-good bug-repellent herbs to put inside. They can also be used for lining or interlining to add strength... etc. etc.
right now I'm actually trying to figure out prezzies i can make from stuff I already have for x-mas. *sigh*
I'm perpetually broke myself and have done lots of projects using ruined clothing, bedsheets, faded drapes etc. In fact, now that I think of it my 1598 corset is made from two vintage dresses someone gave me (they were stained) and the silk lining from a vintage coat. Plus there's the added feel-good factor of recycling rather than throwing something away
well, I supposse that it won't be actually as good as yours, given that I'm fairly new to sewing and handstitching, and the fabrics will be kind of cheap and crappy (old bedsheets conveniently stiffened) since I'm without cash, actually (I hate, yet love the book faires, I buy, and buy, and buy until I am ruined....)
